Thredbo is a fully self-contained ski village beneath Mt Kosciuszko, Australia’s tallest mountain. Offering year round activities and lots of fun and entertainment for the Apre skiers! It has the largest snowmaking system in the southern hemisphere, as well as the country’s longest run (5.9kms) and some of the steepest trails.
Year round
• SIGHTSEEING take the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift the is1.8km long and rises 560 vertical metres. The ride takes 15 minutes one way and offers spectacular valley views. Access to Mt Kosciuszko.
Picnic or BBQ by Thredbo River
• TASTE the local schnapps at the Wild Brumby Schnapps Distillery (a 10 minute drive). This working distillery offers a fascinating insight into the art of making pure fruit Schnapps. The Cellar Door and Café are open to all, however schnapps tasting for those over 18 years old only.
• SWIM at Thredbo Leisure Centre has both a 50m and 25m heated pool, waterslide and Mission Inflatable.
• BOBSLED at The Thredbo Bobsled Luge with 700m of luge style track the bobsled twists and turns its way down the mountain whilst you control the speed with a brake on your cart. (Does not operate when raining)
Winter Snow Season June ~ September
For mountain riders, Thredbo has the longest and most vertical terrain in the country, with natural hits, wind lips and powder bowls to satisfy even the most advanced riders. Lessons, rental gear and lift ticket packages are available. Tickets can be purchased at Friday Flat and Valley Terminal. There is also a host of ski race tournaments and the weekly evening flare run is spectacular!
• SNOW SKI at Australia’s premier ski field. Beginners learn on the gentle slopes of Friday Flat and Thredbo offers trails for skiers of all standards and has the longest ski runs in the country!

• SNOWBOARDING at The Terrain Park features a boardercross course, bumps, banks, rails, and jumps.
• CROSS COUNTRY SKIING Cross country skiing is the perfect way to explore the back country.
Spring - Autumn High Country Activites
• MUSIC FESTIVALS Enjoy Thredbo’s wonderful weekends of top live music in intimate venues. Featuring Australia’s top musicians at the THREDBO BLUES FESTIVAL in January and THREDBO JAZZ, FUNK & GROOVE festival in April. Fun weekends for the Baby Boomers!
• MOUNTAIN BIKING The alpine region offers biking trails for both easy riders and downhill dynamos. You can hire everything you need in Thredbo or bring your own equipment. There is an easy trail and for the mountain bike warrior the Thredbo Downhill trail gets the adrelain flowing. Conditions apply.
• HIKE the high country (but always check weather warnings) Guided tours available.
• FLY FISHING on the Thredbo River. Lessons are available with equipment provided. Book at Thredbo Sports.
• ABSEIL the High Country and step over the edge of Australia’s rooftop! Lessons at Thredbo Sports.
• GOLF tee off on Australia’s highest nine hole course. AGU rated course is bordered by the Thredbo river.
• TENNIS Play on floodlit tennis courts from 7am until 10pm daily in the summer months.
• CHILDREN’S Superglide skating in summer. Superglide skating rinks are an ideal opportunity for young children to experience what it feels like to be ice skating in the open air. A truly rare experience in Australia!
• HORSE RIDING follow in the footsteps of the Man from Snowy River and explore the High Country on horseback. There are several Snowy Mountain horse riding companies close to Thredbo and trips start from two hour beginner session.
